Guillermo Leon is the man behind the successful La Aurora Cigar Company and finally has a cigar with his name on it. The cigar was released at the annual cigar trade show in 2010. The Guillermo Leon Signature cigar features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a double binder with Dominican Corojo and African Cameroon and a filler blend of Dominican, Peruvian, Nicaraguan, and Brazilian tobacco.

Enough with the technical mumbo jumbo let’s get down to describing the blue smoke. From the first puff on the cigar has loads of flavor and balance. Surprisingly the cigar builds in intensity till about the halfway point then plateaus only finally increasing again during the last quarter. The cigar is medium to full bodied in strength but full flavored with lots of character and balance. Notes of peppery, earthy spice with a wonderful subtle sweetness are present throughout the entire smoke. I wish these cigars would get a little more recognition because these could have easily placed very high on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of 2010. Here is hoping they make the list for 2011!
