The blend earns its “corojo” stripes right away as the flavor has a slightly sweet taste, with a strong spicy element, especially on the finish. This is a powerful and unrestrained cigar that bites the tongue, but it’s never oppressive or simply bitter. It remains consistent, with both spicy and peppery elements on the finish in the second half. This could be a favored cigar for the smoker who enjoys a more powerful, spicy taste. It comes in the four basic sizes most common today: a robusto (4 1/2 inches by 50 ring), a toro (6 x 52), a double corona (7 1/2 x 52) and a torpedo (5 1/2 x 52). And it’s nicely priced in boxes of 25: just $2.95 to $4.00 each. Overall grade: A-: Excellent. Indian Tabac Super Fuerte – Natural wrapper: [Honduras: available in 3 sizes] The box-pressed Super Fuente line showed up around 1999 and was considered stout for that time. Tastes have changed again and even stronger cigars than this blend are in fashion today. The Super Fuente with a Honduran-grown natural wrapper showcases a spicy aroma and a medium-to-full body in the ones we tried. The first taste is light and creamy with a caramelized note that continues into a medium finish. As the cigar develops, so do some spicy elements that really blossom by halfway. These take over the cigar in the second half, but you’ll note just a remnant of the sweetness from the start that disappears into the spicy finish. This is a solid cigar and has an interesting balance of flavor between sweetness and spice. At retail prices of $4.00-6.00 each before local tobacco and sales taxes, it’s also a good value, especially in the larger sizes. Overall grade: A-: Excellent. Indian Tabac Super Fuerte – Maduro wrapper: [Honduras: available in 3 sizes] The maduro-wrapped version of the Super Fuente uses a Costa Rican-grown wrapper leaf that’s extremely dark and oily. It also arrived in 1999, but is quite different in performance from its Honduran-wrapped sibling. The Super Fuente maduro has a sweet and spicy aroma like most of the Indian Tabac line, but the sweet and rich flavor of dark caramel is clear, distinct and bold. There’s a lightly-spiced finish to it and the balance of sweetness and spice is well done. Well constructed with a nice, even burn, this was an especially enjoyable cigar in the Toro size (6 inches by 52 ring). Despite maintaining a soft, accessible and sweet tone all the way to the end, this cigar has some hidden power to it and you will feel it near the end! That was impressive as well. Priced nicely at $4.00-5.60 each (the Toro retails for $140.00 for a box of 25), this is a very impressive cigar that deserves more recognition than it gets. Overall grade: A: Exceptional. The Indian Tabac line that launched Rocky Patel on his march to the heights of the cigar trade is now overshadowed by his immensely-popular Rocky Patel Vintage, “The Edge” and other lines. But that doesn’t mean that these lines are in any way secondary; both the Cameroon Legend and the Super Fuente Maduro are worthy contenders for the title of “Chief” among the Rocky Patel stable of brands. ~ Rich Perelman CLASSIFIED ADVERTISINGCigar Humidors and Cigar Accessories at Humidor Vault!
