If you always wanted your own personalized cigars . . .
In the glory days of the Havana cigar, if you wanted a personalized cigar from Romeo y Julieta or H. Upmann or Ramon Allones, it was the factory’s pleasure to decorate one of their standard sizes with a special band with your name or logo right on it. No problem; your cigar wasn’t a secondary blend with a special label, it was the real thing.

Today, the process is a little harder, with most personalized label programs using an un-branded blend to which a special band is attached. But if you wanted your own personalized band around a Puros Indios Churchill?

Again, no problem, thanks to Mike’s Cigars.

Mike’s has introduced a new program in which you can customize either a “generic Dominican cigar” at $31-37 per box of 25 (depending on size) or have the bands made and attached to any cigars you buy from Mike’s quite lengthy inventory list.

You can design your own band or pick a band style from any of 182 choices from nine categories:

  • Anniversary & Wedding Bands (17 styles);

  • Birthday Bands (6);

  • Business & Corporate Bands (32);

  • Hospitality Bands (19);

  • Military & Civil Service Bands (36);

  • New Baby Bands (4);

  • Photo Bands (6);

  • Sports & Recreation Bands (26);

  • Miscellaneous Bands (36).

    The cost is reasonable: $25 per 25 bands printed and applied, plus a one-time set-up of $75. When you re-order, you pay only for the bands to be produced and applied. On the generic selection, only your band will appear; on a branded cigar, both bands will appear unless you want the original band removed and yours alone to be shown.

    The all-color printing process is calibrated for a brilliant finish and the bands fit anything from a 42 to a 60-ring cigar. Orders generally take about 10 days to be completed and shipped.

    It’s a nice option for special events, especially if you have a favorite brand that you’d like to have customized. Just like 50 years ago!

    Did you know?

    Although the preferred humidity setting for cigars is 70%, temperature control of 70-75 F is equally important.
