The Isle of Youth, off the western edge of Cuba, got the worst of the storm, with many considerable housing damage and reports of only a few trees remaining. Most of the Isle’s road system was heavily damaged in the flooding.

While the western end of the island was hit by Gustav, Hurricane Hanna may hit eastern Cuba in the next few days.

Wichita cigar enthusiasts take one last turn around the town
As new smoking bans take effect in individual cities in Kansas, the Wichita Eagle reported on one last tour by cigar lovers before a new ban takes place in Wichita:
Wichita's new smoking ordinance goes into effect Thursday. Any business that allows patrons under the age of 18 must either ban smoking or build a separate room to contain it.

On Monday, about 45 cigar smokers took part in what was called "Freedom Crawl 2008," which organizers said was a "sendoff to yet another one of our freedoms."

In the event, put on by ABC Discount Smoke Shop & Fine Cigars, smokers boarded a party bus at Finn's Bar Downtown and visited three restaurants: Old Chicago West, Yia Yia's Euro Bistro and Fox & Hound. At each, the smokers puffed on cigars.

"The goal of it was to kind of have one lone, last hurrah - and enjoy it," said Rick Daugherty, owner of ABC Discount Smoke Shop & Fine Cigars.
In Wichita, as in almost every city in which a smoking ban has been instituted, cigars have been lumped in with cigarettes despite the enormous difference in their nature. Exceptions, however, have been made for cigar bars and retail tobacco shops.
