STEALS AND DEALSEven Zino Platinum Scepter on sale!

Los Angeles, February 1 – And the hits just keep on coming!

This is a good time to be a cigar smoker, thanks to the variety of excellent brands on the market. It’s also a good time to be a cigar maker, with imports due to rise to their highest level since the Cigar Boom year of 1998. With that popularity, prices are rising, product is moving and the future looks bright.

But there are opportunities for value that pop up and we found some in our latest update of our Comparison Shopper spreadsheet, part of our CigarWire subscription service (Not a subscriber yet? It’s only $2 a month for more prices, rankings and ratings than you can shake a Montecristo at! Click here to subscribe now!):

Cigars International:
Aside from the raft of specials on Gurkha and every other line that Kaizad Hansotia has made:

• Grand Nica Robusto (5 inches by 52 ring) by Carlos Torano, a really flavorful Nicaraguan blend without a hint of bitterness, normally $49.95 for 25, now $39.95.

• Indian Tabac Deluxe Tubos (7 x 48), a full-bodied Honduran blend with excellent construction (and great artwork on the tube), was $49.95, now $39.95 for 20.

• Petrus Royal Maduro from Felipe Gregorio, now discontinued, but a winner for those who desire powerful tastes without too much subtlety:

> Belicoso (7 x 54 torpedo), was $69.95, now $49.95 in boxes of 20

> Churchill (7 x 50) was $69.95, now $49.95 for 20;

> Robusto (5 x 50) was $59.95, now $49.95 for 20.

• Savinelli Nicaragua Special Selection, always underrated and rarely on sale:

> Robusto (5 x 52), was $84, now $75 in boxes of 20;

> Toro (6 x 50) was $80, now $75 for 20.

• Series 55 by Victor Sinclair, offering lots of flavor and good construction, an “under the radar” brand which surprises people when they try it:

> Grand Reserve Green, featuring a sun-grown Ecuadorian wrapper in three sizes, all in boxes of 29: Churchill (8 x 50) was $149, now $99; Robusto (5 x 50), was $129, now $99, and Torpedo (6 1/2 x 52), was $199, now $99.

> Grand Reserve Red, with a Brazilian-grown Corojo-seed wrapper and lots of power, also in boxes of 29: Churchills (8 x 50), was $149, now $99 and Torpedo (6 1.2 x 52), was $199, now $99.

Famous Smoke Shop:
The triumvirate of Zaretsky, Odzic and Gonzalez must sit by their computers all day and try to figure out how they can change more prices on more items for a shorter time period than anyone on the planet. There’s less action on eBay than on the prices on this site! I think these specials are current, but if you don’t like these, there will be some new ones in an hour . . .

• Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe (6 1/2 x 43), a really good value and a great introduction to the Fuente line: regularly $45.95 for 25, now $39.95.

• Ashton 10-pack sampler, the best way to try this great brand as you can try the Classic, Aged Cabinet Selection and Aged Maduro Selection all at once. It’s normally $78.95, now $69.95.

• A nice sale on Avo Tubos, a brand which is not only popular, but quickly spiraling up in price:

> Avo no. 2 Tubos (6 x 50), regularly $121.95, now $93.95 for 20;

> Avo no. 3 Tubos (7 x 50), regularly $136.95, now $102.95 for 20;

> Avo no. 5 Tubos (6 7/8 x 46), regularly $119.95, now $94.95 for 20;

> Avo no. 9 Tubos (4 3/4 x 48), regularly $106.95, now $83.95 for 20;

> Avo Piramides Tubos (7 x 54), regularly $136.95, now $102.95 for 20;

> Avo Robusto Tubos (5 x 50), regularly $112.95, now $87.95 for 20.

• Carlos Torano Tribute (Dominican Republic), which we ranked as one of the top full-bodied cigars on the market; not cheap, but worth it:

> Churchill (7 x 50) sampler, five for $43.95, $10 off;

> Robusto (5 x 50) sampler, five for $38.95, $10 off;

> Robusto (5 x 50), box of 22 for $166.95, $20 off;

> Torpedo (6 1/4 x 52), box of 22 now $204.95, $20 off.

• La Aurora Gran Corona (6 1/2 x 50), not often seen at discounted prices, regularly $96.95 for 25, now $84.95.

• Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro, the strongest blend in the line, offered in sampler packs of five in all shapes now $5 off, from $16.95 (No. 4) to $29.95 (Belicoso).

Payless Cigars:
Frankly, I am amazed at some of these prices; I’m not sure how many of these will remain in stock for very long:

• Carlos Torano Cameroon 1916, a really delicious cigar at the best prices we’ve seen:

> Churchill (7 x 48), 25 for $79.95;
> Corona (5 1/2 x 42), 25 for $69.95;
> Robusto (5 1/2 x 52), 25 for $74.95;
> Torpedo (6 1/2 x 54), 25 for $81.95.

• Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Torpedo (6 1/2 x 54), which we ranked as one of the top medium-bodied cigars on the U.S. market, was $75.95, now $64.95 in boxes of 24.

• Diamond Crown No. 6 (6 x 54), the lowest price we have seen: normally $219, now $159 in boxes of 15.

• El Rey del Mundo Rectangulares (5 5/8 x 45), in boxes of 30: regularly $83.95, now $64.95.

• Zino Platinum Specter Low Rider (6 x 43), a brand rarely seen on sale anywhere, normally $173 in boxes of 16, now $99!

Get ‘em while you can!
