HELLO HAVANA!Long-awaited third edition of Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars is finally on the press!

Los Angeles, February 4 – How many brands were actually in circulation at the time of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959?

Is there a list of all of the special-production cigars Cuba has released in the last few years?

Do you have a complete list of all of the Partagas Serie sizes?

Yes, yes and yes in our new, third edition of the Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars, on the press now and shipping on February 15.

Seven years ago, when we released our second edition of our Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars, I thought we’d do the third edition in 1999 or 2000.

Wrong!

For a couple of years, almost nothing happened and the book maintained its relevance and accuracy. Then Altadis got into the act in 2000 and pumped new energy (not to mention almost $500 million!) into the Cuban cigar industry. Limited Editions, reserve collections, special releases in the form of books and one-of-a-kind humidors of all kinds followed quickly, making the 33-brand Cuban market almost as volatile as the U.S. market with its 1,091 brands!

Like herding cats, we finally got all of the information together and now offer you 192 pages of stats and facts about Cuba and its cigars, including:

• Complete profiles of all 33 currently-production brands and 10 famed discontinued brands, including lists of special-production models, brand histories and even discontinued shapes and sizes. That’s where you’ll find a complete list of the Serie A-B-C-D sizes from Partagas from the 1940s.

• A thorough retrospective on Cuban brand history, with a roster of more than 1,700 authenticated brand names and a complete roster of brands actually offered for sale as of January 1, 1959, the day that rebel forces led by Fidel Castro took over the country. There were 140 brands on sale on that day. We reprint an advertisement for the entire Partagas line – eight models in all – on pages 176 and 177.

• Comprehensive tables for the Havana fanatic of factory sizes and which brands are made in each factory size . . . not only for regular-production cigars, but also for special models made for one-off humidors and other oddities.

• A special section on special-production cigars, listing the various series and one-time-only cigars produced in the last seven years. Edicion Limitada, Coleccion Habanos, Coleccion Reserva . . . they are all here. (No, we didn’t list all of the one-of-a-kind humidors made for the annual Festival del Habano; maybe we’ll include that in the next edition!).

• The history of box identification and anti-counterfeiting measures to help you identify whether your $80 box of Cohiba Esplendidos is real or not . . .

It’s all yours in a $12.95 package, available for order now; we’ll start shipping on February 15. We’ve also got a special offer below that you’ll enjoy.

Did you know?

Although the preferred humidity setting for cigars is 70%, temperature control of 70-75 F is equally important.
