STEALS AND DEALSSpecial samplers on Nick Perdomo’s world of wrappers

Los Angeles, May 16 – Some nice opportunities to fill your humidor, or give someone an early hint about Father’s Day:

Famous Smoke Shop:
Arthur and the boys at Famous are fired up about Perdomo this week, among others:

• Avo in packs of five:

> Avo Domaine No. 10 (5 1/8 inches by 50 ring), the five-pack was $40.50, now $23.70;

> Avo Maduro Robusto (5 x 50), pack of five was $36.50, now $21.90.

• Camacho SLR, featured at the recent PokerSmoker 2005, now $20 off a box: were $109.95 to 138.95, now $89.95 to $118.95.

• Casa Torano Churchill (7 x 48), the mellowest of the Torano line, was $107.95 for 25, now $86.95.

• Don Tomas Special Edition #700 with a special Connecticut wrapper (5 1/2 x 42), was $55.95, now $45.95 for 25. Less than $2 a stick for a first-quality cigar you will enjoy!

• The Griffin’s Fuerte Robusto (4 3/4 x 48). A much more interesting blend than the standard Griffin’s line, offered in a sampler pack of five for $22.80, well down from the regular price of $38.00.

• La Tradicion Cabinet Series Perdomo Reserve:
Nick Perdomo must have loved variety packs of chips or cereal or whatever as a kid. Look at his top-selling Perdomo Reserve line. You can get it with a Nicaraguan-grown “Cuban Café” wrapper, a Nicaraguan-grown maduro wrapper, a Cameroon wrapper or a Connecticut wrapper! Famous has the top of the line Cameroon and Connecticut wrappers on special in sampler packs of five:

Cameroon:
> “C”(7 x 54), five for $29.95;
> “D” (5 1/4 x 54 perfecto), five for $25.95;
> “E” (6 x 54), five for $26.95;
> “R” (5 x 54),five for $24.95;
> “X” (7 x 54 torpedo), five for $32.95.

Champagne:
> “C” (7 x 54), five for $29.95;
> “E” (6 x 54), five for $26.95;
> “F” (4 3/4 x 52 perfecto), five for $20.95;
> “R” (5 x 54), five for $24.95;
> “X” (7 x 54 torpedo), five for $32.95.

• Vueltabajo on sale! This is another example of a top-line cigar which is offered at a tremendous value. This was a Boom brand made by Torano which fell out of favor like so many others. But that doesn’t mean it was a bad cigar! To the contrary, it offers a pleasant aroma and an even, occasionally spicy taste for as little as $1.50 each:

> Churchill (7 x 48), the box of 25 was $51.95, now $41.95;
> Toro (6 x 50), 25 was $49.95, now $39.95;
> Robusto (4 3/4 x 52), 25 was $47.95, now $37.95;
> Toro (6 x 50), 25 was $49.95, now $39.95.

Payless Cigars:
I wasn’t too sure about the Excalibur Royal Sterling line when it debuted at last summer’s
Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show. After all, it was essentially a way to use up some nice, light wrapper leaf, but the line has done pretty well.

Payless is offering the Dignitas size (5 1/2 x 52) for $72.95 in the box of 20, the lowest price we have seen.

• La Perla Habana Churchill maduro (7 x 52) in the box of 20 for $74.95, down from $80.00 and close to the lowest we have seen.

J-R Cigars and Mike’s Cigars

In advance of Father’s Day, both J-R and Mike’s are offering one of the greatest cigar items of all time, the La Finca Ammo Box, in which 91 La Fincas (6 x 50) are stuffed into a converted 30-caliber ammunition case. It’s an all-time Father’s Day gift and only $55.95!

Superior Cigars:
Tom Sullivan came up with an interesting special this week on the unique Pinar series.

You may remember that this is the brand which is made of all-Cuban, pre-embargo tobacco. They are deep and rich and while a little too calm for some tastes, they are certainly a novelty.

Now you can try them in three samplers:

> A: Two Rothschild (5 x 50) and 1 Toro (5 1/2 x 50), three cigars regularly $32.00, now $18.75;

> B: Two Rothschild, 1 Churchill (7 x 48) and Belicoso Gran (7 x 52), four cigars regularly $42.00, now $23.45;

> C: Belicoso Fina (5 1/2 x 52), Churchill and Rothschild, three cigars regularly $37.00, now $19.75.

Happy smoking!
