STEALS AND DEALSdeals were over. Boy, was I wrong:

Cigars International:
Keith Meier and his team have three specials you should know about:

• C.A.O. l’Anniversaire eXtreme Rothschild (4 1/2 x 50), was $109 for the box of 20, now $96, the lowest price we have seen.

• Excalibur 1066, in the Dark Knight II (6 1/2 x 52) and Dark Knight III (4 1/2 x 50) sizes, originally made for a three-cigar sampler of the Dark Knight style, but popular enough to go on their own.

Since they started in sampler packs, Cigars International is returning them to their roots, offering them in packs of five for sampling at $22 for the III and $26 for the II.

• Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend Chimp, one of Rocky Patel’s original blends and still one of the most flavorful. Also known as the Robusto Grande, the Chimp is a 5 x 52 robusto which was offered at $59.95 for the box of 25, but is now at $50.95, the lowest we have seen.

Famous Smoke Shop:
Our condolences to Famous CEO Arthur Zaretsky, who lost his mother Rose last week at age 95. Zaretsky’s parents founded Famous Smoke Shop in 1939 and Rose saw it grow into the national powerhouse it is today.

In the meantime, Famous is offering some nice specials to those who wish to light a cigar in Rose’s memory:

• Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe (6 1/2 x 43): this is one of Fuente’s mixed-fill sizes which goes on-sale and off-sale like a windshield wiper. Right now the wiper is on, so you can try 25 of these quite good cigars for $39.95 for 25, saving $6 from the regular price of $45.95.

• Avo Classic on sale at $10 off per box. I think Famous puts Avos on sale more often than anyone else; here’s the latest:

> No. 2 (6 x 50), now $117.95 for 25;

> No. 3 (7 1/2 x 50), now $133.95;

> No. 5 (6 7/8 x 46) – our favorite size in this line – now $117.95;

> No. 9 (4 3/4 x 48), now $102.95;

> Piramides (7 x 54), now $159.95, and

> Robusto (5 x 50), now $128.95 for the slide-top box of 25.

• Punch El Doble, the new 6 x 60 parejo named for the late General Cigar vice president of marketing Bill Roethel, offered at $143.95 for the box of 20, down from the list price of $180.00.

• Roly No. 2 (6 1/2 x 46), maybe the best value in mixed-fill cigars from the makers of Puros Indios, was $22.95 for 25, now just $16.95!

Mike’s Cigars:
Oscar Boruchin has revved up his La Gloria Cubana contacts at General Cigar:

• La Gloria Cubana’s top sizes, now available in boxes of 10 at highly attractive prices. If you haven’t tried LGCs, this is your chance, for cheap:

> Churchill (7 x 50), a box of 10 for $35.63, the lowest we’ve seen;

> Corona Gorda (6 x 52), a great size to appreciate the subtlety of the LGC blend, now $33.00 for 10, and

> Wavell (5 x 50), now just $29.25 for 10, the best price we have seen.

• Punch El Doble, offered in a sampler pack of five for $37.50.

Superior Cigars:
Tom Sullivan has a brilliantly reflective bald head, no doubt created by rubbing his hands over his head in pain, trying to figure out how he’s going to make any money by offering specials like this:

• Camacho Corojo, our no.1-ranked brand in the full-bodied category, now at prices so low it pains me to print them:

> Churchill (7 x 48), a brilliant smoke with which to finish a heavy steak dinner, in boxes of 20 for $69.95;

> Figurado (7 x 54), 20 for $69.95;

> Gigante (6 x 54), 20 for $75.95;

> Monarca (5 x 50), 20 for $64.95, and

> Toro (6 x 50), the perfect size to enjoy this brand if a Churchill is just too much, at 20 for $64.95.

All of these are easily the best prices we have seen recently on Camacho, so if you can stand the explosive, full-bodied, peppery but never bitter, taste, this is the sale for you. Happy smoking!
