STEALS AND DEALSPadron Magnums in sampler packs at Famous!

Los Angeles, June 28 – Summer is here and so are some nice specials on brands not usually seen at discount:

Cigars International:
Keith Meier and his team are offering a sampler special that’s almost too good to be true from Puros Indios.

The package includes a full range of the Puros Indios brands in the popular robusto – 5 inches by 50 ring – size so you can try them all:

• Four Puros Indios Rothschilds, with a medium-to-full-bodied taste that’s an excellent value.

• Four Puros Indios Viejo Rothschilds, with the same blend as the Puros Indios brand, but aged for four years, providing more smoothness.

• Four Puros Indios Maxima Reserva Especial Robustos, featuring a toasty flavor with hints of pepper that complements heavy meals especially well. We liked this brand so much we ranked it in the top 20 of all full-bodied brands offered on the U.S. market.

• Four Cuba Aliados (“Cuba United”), now back in distribution by Puros Indios with an updated blend and a tangy flavor, and

• Four Cienfuegos Engine No. 5, with a Habana 2000 wrapper and Nicaraguan-grown binder, offering a very rich, full-bodied taste.

It’s a great way to try the Puros Indios brands and the 20-cigar pack is ridiculously priced at $29.95.

Famous Smoke Shop:
Some nice opportunities from Arthur Zaretsky and the folks at Famous, including a rare discount on Graycliffs:

• Avo LE5, their 5 5/8 x 52 special robusto, is regularly $240.00 for 20, now $199.95, the lowest price we have seen.

• C.A.O. Italia Ciao (5 x 56), in a sampler pack of five at $26.95.

• Graycliffs in sampler packs of five, still incredibly expensive, but a good way to try this brand without taking out a home-equity loan:

> Five-packs in the Espresso line are $20 off, so:

- Espresso PG (5 1/4 x 50), is now $69.95 for five;
- Espresso Pirate (6 x 52 pyramid), is now $87.95, and
- Espresso President (7 x 48), is also $87.95.

> Both the original blend (red label) and the Profesionale (blue label) are offered at $20 in packs of five.

The standard Graycliff line has a satisfying, medium-to-full-bodied flavor, but the Profesionale is a pepperhead’s delight with a wild, untamed flavor. We ranked it in the top ten of all full-bodied cigars offered in the U.S. (All of our rankings can be reviewed in their entirety on our value-packed CigarWire service, only $2 a month for a 12-month subscription).

Samplers are offered in identical sizes in both lines:

- Chairman (7 3/4 x 50), now $78.95;
- PG (5 1/4 x 50), now $51.95;
- PGX (6 x 50), now $60.95;
- Pirate (6 x 52 pyramid), now $69.95;
- President (7 x 48), now $69.95.

• Two opportunities to try some nice cigars from the Tabacalera La Aurora:

> La Aurora Bristol Especiales (6 3/4 x 48), a medium-bodied cigar that’s an excellent everyday smoke, was $65.95, now $55.95 in the box of 25, and

> Leon Jimenes No. 2 (6 1/2 x 42), with a bit more body, was $74.95 for 25, now $64.95.

• One of our favorite brands from the 2004 RTDA show was Nicarao. This new blend of an old brand name showcased a brilliant, brightly caramelized flavor that has to be experienced to be appreciated. Now you can try them at $10 off per box:

> Julieta (7 x 50), now $75.95 in the box of 20;

> Minuto (5 x 42), now $49.95 for 20;

> Piramide (6 x 52), now $70.95 for 20, and

> Robusto (5 x 52), now $55.95 for 20.

We ranked Nicarao in the top 15 of all full-bodied brands on the U.S. market.

• Padron Magnums, the largest size in their standard line at nine inches long by 50 ring, rarely on sale, but now offered in a sampler pack of five at $41.00.

This is a very large cigar, but the manageable ring gauge of 50 allows you to handle this 2-3 hour giant easily and not feel overwhelmed by its girth.

• Private Stock #14, a 6 1/2-inch by 50-ring toro, now $10 off per box of 25 at $56.95. Made in the Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic, this is a specific blend and not a second of any other brand. It’s tasty and value-priced.
