About Us

This site is produced by Perelman, Pioneer & Company, publishers of the authoritative Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars, along with Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars and the Perelman’s Pocket Cigar Finder.

  • Editor-in-Chief Rich Perelman:
  • Whether in sporting events up to and including the Olympic Games, at festivals like the Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty, or in a smoke-filled room, Mr. Perelman has brought together careful preparation and an innovative approach to satisfy the informational and recreational interests of cigar enthusiasts.

He created Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars, the definitive reference to cigars marketed nationally in the United States, in 1995 and added the Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars and Perelman's Pocket Cigar Finder in 1997.

Perelman has also staged unique cigar-themed events beginning in 1994. The “Le Cigar Noir” series of cigar events combines a four-course gourmet dinner with a cigar seminar, entertainment, a consumer accessories and spirits fair and market research program wrapped into a single evening. Produced in collaboration with Smoke magazine, the first Le Cigar Noir was a complete sell-out in Beverly Hills, California in May 1996 and the program has toured nationally with shows in Toronto, Ontario; Chicago, Illinois; Honolulu, Hawaii; New Orleans, Louisiana; Newport Beach, California; New York, New York; San Diego and San Francisco, California and Cleveland, Ohio. In 2002, the program was combined with the legendary Friars Club of California’s “Celebrity Smoker” annual extravaganza in Beverly Hills.

He headed the Press Operations Department of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee for the 1984 Olympic Games, responsible for the personal and professional needs of 9,150 press, radio and television media. Other high-profile assignments have included the 1986 celebration of the Centennial of the Statue of Liberty, the 1987 Pan American Games, 1990 Goodwill Games, the 1992 National Columbus Quincentennial Celebration, 1992 Olympic Games, the 1993 World University Games, the 1996 Olympic Games, 2000 Reform Party National Convention and the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

Perelman is an attorney by training, earning his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola (Los Angeles) Law School in 1981. He became a member of the State Bar of California the same year. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1978. He lives in Los Angeles.

  • Marketing Director Patricia Harris-DiLeva:
